Lexus LX 570 bags Baja win
13/12/2010
Lexus' LX 570 has taken out class honours in the recent 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in Ensenada, Mexico.
The LX 570, driven by Joe Bacal and Bob Dinter and supported by co-drivers Chris Cocores and Paul Williamsen, completed the gruelling 1600km race in 44 hours to take out the Stock Full Class.
The Baja 1000 is a competitive driving event which traverses mountains and dry lakebeds - testing both man and machine.
Over the course of the event, the LX 570 posted an average speed of just under 100km/h and reached in excess of 180km/h as it crossed the desolate dry lake beds of Baja de California.
The win secured Bacal's first championship, with the Lexus JTGrey team dominating their class in 2010 with four wins and one second.
Bacal said the win, in the team's first full season, was due largely to the quality and durability of the Lexus LX 570.
"It's a testament to the durability of Lexus and the contributions of a great team, including the outstanding Long Beach Racers," Bacal said.
