Lexus iPhone game winner announced
01/07/2011
The Lexus CT 200h City Challenge iPhone game competition wrapped up today, after the top two competitors went head to head at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne.
The winner got the keys to a brand new Lexus CT 200h hybrid hatchback.
Ben Davies from Emerald, Victoria, and Perth's Eugene Potito had a race-off before the start of the media reveals at the Melbourne Convention Centre this morning.
The final race was broadcast to the media as a part of the Lexus media unveiling, with Ben Davies declared the winner by Peter Evans, Lexus Corporate Manager Marketing and After Sales.
The slot car-style game challenged players to race their virtual CT 200h on tracks based in capital cities across Australia, with the goal to complete each circuit both quickly and efficiently.
To achieve a high score, players had to switch between SPORT and ECO driving modes, known as Two Mood/Two Mode, to achieve the best lap times while saving fuel.
Ben and Eugene were the players with the two overall top scores on all tracks and were flown to Melbourne to take part in the final race for the CT 200h.
Ben said it would take some time for the win to sink in.
"The game is really interesting in the way you have to toggle between the two modes," Ben said.
"My strategy was quite different to Eugene's, so that was a bit of a surprise.
"I played a couple of hours a day just to make sure that I was staying on top of the leader board, and getting the call to come to Melbourne was fantastic.
"It's incredible that I've won a brand new luxury hybrid hatch just by playing a iPhone game!" Ben said.
"I'm going to drive the car everywhere. I can't wait to get behind the wheel."
