SAFETY SAFETY

Rather than adding-on innovative safety features, we engineered them into the design. The LS 460 is built to actively help avoid accidents and protect you and your passengers from harm.

Safety systems management

The LS 460 includes Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, a breakthrough system which can anticipate and help prevent instability and loss of traction, especially on slippery corners. VDIM integrates the comprehensive package of safety technologies in the LS 460, which includes the Anti-lock Braking System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control.

Adaptive front lighting

The Adaptive Front-lighting System swivels the low beam HID headlamps to provide better illumination when cornering and on winding roads. The powerful HID headlamps give you greater night vision.

Pre-collision safety

The Lexus Pre-Collision safety System (PCS)1 helps you avoid accidents and can reduce injury and damage where impact is unavoidable. The PCS is assisted by a radar sensor embedded in the front grille, which monitors the distance of the LS 460 from objects ahead. If the PCS determines a collision is likely, it pre-emptively retracts the driver and front passenger seatbelts, while arming Brake Assist to help reduce speed. If the driver does not respond and a collision is unavoidable, the system automatically applies Pre-Collision Braking.

Ten SRS airbags

With ten SRS airbags and whiplash injury-lessening front seats as standard, the LS 460 helps reduce collision impact for greater peace of mind. Driver and front passengers have front SRS airbags, front seat side airbags and SRS knee airbags to help protect lower limbs. SRS rear seat side airbags and full length side curtain-shield airbags help protect the rear outer passengers.

Active Cruise Control

In addition to conventional cruise control, the LS 460 features a vehicle-to-vehicle distance technology known as Active Cruise Control (ACC)2. Pre-set your preferred cruising speed using touch controls on the steering wheel. This speed will be maintained until the radar detects another vehicle in your path. ACC will reduce speed accordingly, and will even apply the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.

Footnotes

1. PCS is a driver assist technology and should not be used in place of safe driving practices. The driver should continue to monitor the road ahead.
2. ACC is a driver assist technology and should not be used in place of safe driving practices. The driver should continue to monitor the road ahead.
