PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE

The LS 600hL is the world's first V8 hybrid all wheel drive luxury vehicle. Lexus Hybrid Drive technology seamlessly combines a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine and high output electric motor to deliver breathtaking power.

Hybrid power with no sacrifice in performance

With the petrol engine and electric motor working in parallel, the LS 600hL can achieve immense power - equivalent to a V12 6.0L engine. The 5.0 litre V8 alone produces 290kW of power at 6,400rpm and 520Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The 650 volt electric motor delivers 165kW of power and 300Nm of instantaneous torque. It also incorporates a two stage speed reduction device, which allows for better motor performance despite its smaller size.

Low CO2 emissions and remarkable fuel economy

Breathe easy as the LS 600hL's immense power comes with truly impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions of 219g/km - comparable to a conventional V6 engine. At low speeds, the vehicle is powered by the electric motor and emits virtually no CO2. The intelligent combination of petrol and electric power helps minimise engine use, reducing CO2 emissions and increasing fuel efficiency. The LS 600hL delivers excellent fuel economy, consuming just 9.3 litres per 100km1.

Adopt an energy-efficient driving style with ECO driving mode

The LS 600hL includes technology designed to help you adopt a more efficient driving style. Place the vehicle in ECO driving mode and it will automatically adapt the load of the air conditioning and throttle to improve the vehicle's efficiency.

Seamless electronic transmission

The Lexus Hybrid Drive system in the LS 600hL includes clutchless Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT), which ensures incredibly smooth acceleration without the interruption of gear changes. By adapting to driver input and driving conditions, it ensures the engine and electric drive motor operate at peak efficiency for improved fuel economy. On winding roads you can take control by switching to sequential shifting mode with eight stages, which mimics the gear shifts of a conventional automatic manual style transmission.

Dual Variable Valve Timing

To ensure crisp response from the petrol engine, Lexus created the world's first Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence and Electric inlet valve timing system. The system continually monitors the V8 engine's speed and load, and optimises its breathing to suit the driving conditions. This ensures you get maximum power when you need it most and improved fuel economy.

Variable Gear Ratio Steering

Excellent directional stability is provided by the combination of Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) and Electric Power Steering. VGRS tailors the rate of steering response according to the vehicle's speed. Slow down to park and the steering becomes more sensitive for easier manoeuvring.

Intelligent suspension systems

The LS 600hL has air suspension rather than conventional coil springs, with a button on the centre console that can raise the height of the vehicle as required. You can fine tune the suspension settings to suit your preferred level of ride  comfort and handling with Adaptive Variable Suspension - 'Sport' for tight responsive handling, 'Normal' for everyday driving, or 'Comfort' for a luxuriously smooth ride.

Greater driving precision with All Wheel Drive

The All Wheel Drive (AWD) system incorporates a centre TORSENTM Limited Slip Differential, which tailors the balance of torque between the front and rear wheels, depending on the level of traction. In slippery road conditions, the LS 600hL's AWD system responds automatically to help maintain control.
