GS 460 Safety - Even the safety systems give you a better feeling.
The reassurance of Pre-collision safety
You’ll feel more relaxed as a Pre-Collision safety System (PCS)* can help reduce collision injury and damage. A millimeter wave radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts, while Brake Assist (BA) increases your braking force to help reduce collision speed.
Relax as Active Cruise Control watches ahead
To monitor the road during highway cruising, the GS 460 is equipped with Active Cruise Control (ACC)* with radar technology. Simply set your preferred highway speed via touch controls. Then, should the radar detect another vehicle in your path, Active Cruise Control decelerates your speed and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.
Adaptive Front Lighting looks around corners
To give you greater night vision, powerful High Intensity Discharge (HID) low beams self level and illuminate more road surface. Then on winding roads, the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) redirects the beams, so you can literally see around corners.
Safer stopping Electronically Controlled Braking
The GS is the first mid-sized sedan with Electronically Controlled Braking (ECB), an innovative ‘drive by wire’ braking system. It ensures more precise distribution of brake force, wheel by wheel, for more controlled braking and optimal operation of VDIM and other brake-related technologies.
Feel at ease with 10 SRS airbags
For added reassurance, the GS is equipped with dual-stage front airbags and knee airbags for the driver and front passenger. There are seat-mounted side airbags in the front and rear and side curtain shield airbags which help prevent the risk of injury to the outer occupants during side impacts.
Responsive LED tail lights
The rear tail lights incorporate LED lamps which light up faster than conventional incandescent lamps. So when you apply the brakes, following traffic will be alerted sooner.
