BREMBO BRAKES FOR ULTIMATE STOPPING
An Official supplier to Formula One, Brembo, has engineered a braking system specifically for Lexus. Massive cross-drilled 360mm front disc employ 6-piston aluminium calipers for stable braking even from ultra high speeds. In the rear 345mm discs are coupled by 2-piston calipers. In addition, pillar type cooling fins aid cooling, for reduced brake fade during heavy braking.
ABS BRAKING WITH BRAKE ASSIST
While Brembo provided the hardware, Lexus managed the software. Brake Assist is able to detect a sudden push on the wheel as an emergency braking situation and supplements your braking effort for improved braking response.
PRE-COLLISION SAFETY LOOKS FURTHER AHEAD
When you are driving a vehicle engineered for higher speed, it's reassuring to have a Pre-Collision safety System (PCS) (2) aboard. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision with vehicles or objects ahead is unavoidable, split seconds before an accident it tightens the seatbelts and pre arms the brakes.
ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WATCHES AHEAD
At highway speeds, Active Cruise Control (ACC) (3) utilises the radar sensor to monitor the road ahead. First, set your cruising speed via touch controls on the steering wheel. Then if the ACC detects another vehicle in your path, it slows down your vehicle and even applies the brakes if necessary. Your nominated speed is resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.
(2) PCS is a driver assist technology and should not be used in place of safe driving practices. Drivers should continue to monitor road ahead.
