RX 400h Performance - One V6 engine plus three electric motors equals guilt free exhilaration.

A powerful V6 DOHC engine

You may well have been quite satisfied by the thrilling performance of the all-alloy, 3.3 litre quad cam V6 engine with the flexibility of VVT-i. Yet this is just part of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system, as its power is supplemented by electric power, for a feeling of acceleration that sets it apart from conventional SUVs.

Supplemented by three electric motors

Experience the almost silent yet instant acceleration of three electric motors. Using electrical energy generated by the petrol engine and the regenerative braking, one electric motor up front supplements the petrol engine to drive the front wheels. Then a second electric motor drives the rear wheels, while a third generates charge to the HV battery.

Low fuel consumption and emissions

Despite the dramatic acceleration, the Lexus Hybrid Drive system results in fuel consumption of 8.1l/100 km and CO2 emissions at a low 192g/km*. Which means the RX400h ventures into territory where no SUV has been before.

200kW max system output

With a petrol and electric energy working together, the Lexus Hybrid Drive system produces the equivalent power of a larger engine, with the emissions and economy of a smaller one.

*Fuel consumption and emissions will vary depending on driving conditions / style, vehicle conditions and options / accessories. Source of fuel consumption data: ADR 81/01 standard..

**Maximum combined engine and hybrid battery output and torque constantly available within a specified vehicle speed range (Lexus Japan in-house testing).
