LEXUS SHOWCAR AT MELBOURNE MOTOR SHOW

Lexus will display a specially modified SC430 hardtop convertible sports coupe at the Melbourne Motor Show on February 27.

The customised SC430 features lowered suspension and imported Italian wheels from OZ, who supply equipment to both Formula One and Indy race teams.

The OZ wheels on the modified SC430 are 18''x 8'' on the front and 18'x'9'' on the rear. The vehicle is shod with Michelin Pilot sports tyres - 245 .40 x18 at the front and 265 .35 x18 at the rear - to give the modified SC430 a wide footprint.

A sports body kit includes a carbon fibre bonnet with air dam, stainless steel sports exhaust, side skirts and a modified front bumper bar with deep contours.

While the customised SC430 is not immediately planned for Australian availability, John Roca, Senior Manager Lexus Australia said, "We will gauge market response and act accordingly."

The customised Lexus SC430 features the hallmark hardtop, which folds into the boot in 25 seconds.

Its interior is untouched, with Lexus polished woodgrain and leather trim, and a nine-speaker Mark Levinson premium stereo system.

The show SC430 will be joined by the complete Lexus line-up.

The Lexus RX330 - Australia's Best Luxury Four Wheel Drive winner and Wheels Car Of The Year nominee - will be on show.

Lexus' most successful model yet, it has claimed substantial presence in the fast-growing luxury SUV market. It is the only luxury SUV to feature rear vision camera availability.

Lexus' rugged and luxurious four wheel drive LX470 will feature at the Show, complete with wireless Bluetooth mobile phone technology, Lexus rear vision camera and rear-seat DVD system.

Lexus' flagship - the fifth generation LS430 launched in late 2003 - features six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift, and improved suspension and steering.

Other LS430 technology features include Active Cruise Control, intelligent adaptive headlamps that provide extra coverage when driving around corners, Lexus rear view camera, and an automatically-retracting power-operated rear sunshade.

The Lexus flagship's interior also has power-operated rear seats with memory and a rear seat massage system as standard.

The sporty Lexus IS200 and IS300 will be joined in Melbourne by the 157kW ES300 luxury sedan and the 163kW GS300.
