LEXUS QUALITY SHINES THROUGH
Lexus quality has again shone through, with JD Power and Associates releasing the results of its latest quality survey on long-term vehicle dependability.Lexus ranked the highest for the 12th consecutive year.
"The results of this survey demonstrate our commitment to the highest possible quality for all our vehicles," said Lexus Australia divisional manager Scott Grant.
"Lexus is dedicated to the pursuit of perfection. We have a proud tradition of designing and manufacturing vehicles that stand the test of time."
The closely watched JD Power and Associates survey is based on responses from 47,620 owners of three-year-old vehicles when questioned about scores of specific problems, ranging from wind or brake noise to uneven tyre wear and stalling engines.
The survey is significant for the automotive industry as new car buyers regard long-term quality as one of the most important factors when choosing between brands. It is also important to car makers because of warranty costs.
Lexus dominated the segment rankings, leading in four segments: GS300/GS 430 in midsize premium cars, LS430 in large premium cars, SC430 in premium sport cars and LX470 in midsize premium Sport Utility Vehicles.
Lexus had only 136 problems per 100 vehicles.
It was followed by Ford Motor Company's Mercury nameplate, with 151 problems per 100 vehicles, and General Motors' Buick brand, with 153 problems per 100 vehicles.
