Japanese luxury marque Lexus has achieved its best January sales result on record, with 635 new vehicle deliveries.

The result is a 12.5 per cent increase on the previous best January, recorded in 2014, and a 24.8 per cent increase on the January 2015 result.

The new year milestone follows Lexus achieving its best year of sales in Australia in 2015 with 8690 deliveries, 24.1 per cent up on the 2014 total.

June 2015 was a particular highlight, with 1186 vehicles sold. This surpassed the previous single month record of 1106 set in October 2007.

Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said the arrival of engaging new product, progressive marketing strategies and a committed Lexus dealer network had all contributed to the achievements.

"We are extremely encouraged by these sales results, which come off the back of unprecedented interest in new Lexus models and the invigorated Lexus brand as a whole," he said.

"2015 was a significant year for new product as we brought eight new models to the local market, including NX 200t, RC F, updated ES, IS 200t, new RX, updated GS Line, updated LX Line and RC 200t."

Mr McGregor said Lexus was dedicated to the growth and increased recognition of the Lexus brand with the establishment of new dealers and additional new product.

"We are committed to growing Lexus throughout 2016 and beyond as we expand the Lexus dealer network and widen our appeal even further with the GS F high performance sedan," Mr McGregor said.
