Lexus has continued its record-breaking sales momentum with its strongest October result in nine years, according to official figures released today.

The luxury brand delivered an impressive 923 passenger cars and SUVs last month - second only to a stellar four-figure result achieved in October 2007.

October's total represents an improvement of almost one-third for Lexus compared with September (700 vehicles) and a gain of close to seven per cent over the same month last year.

Total Lexus sales this year are now on track to surpass last year's all-time record - a milestone that is within striking distance during November.

Sales to the end of October have reached 7,941 vehicles, which is 6.6 per cent ahead of the record pace set last year.

Reflecting the market shift towards SUVs, Lexus dealers have sold 4,826 NX, RX and LX Line vehicles this year, an increase of 20 per cent.

Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said sales of the NX Line (354 vehicles) were the second-highest in the model's two-year life; the RX Line (169) achieved its best October result since 2014; and the LX Line (35) recorded its best October since 2002.

"Dynamic new or significantly upgraded model lines late this year and in the first half of 2017, supported by innovative marketing and sales strategies, will maintain the impetus and expansion of the Lexus brand," he said.
