The 2017 Design Pavillion, Inspired by the LS
A stable of world-class collaborators have been assembled to translate this year’s design theme from the 2017 Milan Design Week of ‘Yet Philosophy’ over three levels, for 700 guests across Derby, Cup and Oaks Day. Yet Philosophy is a concept defined as ‘the harmonisation of contradictory elements’.
This year a refined, finessed and elevated environment is inspired by the all-new Lexus LS - a luxurious flagship sedan that will be shown to the public for the first time in Australia ahead of its national launch in April 2018.
Exploring the three-level ‘Future Cave’ Pavilion conceptualised by Joost Bakker, the interiors by Etic Studio (Emilie Delalande) will reflect the model’s incisive simplicity and intriguing elegance, such as three-dimensional wall panelling reminiscent of the LS’ cabin, along with a sumptuous colour palate and a balance of light and shadow inspired by the Japanese Kiriko glass ornament in the door of the LS.

Caroline Khoo (Nectar and Stone)
A delicate and indulgent assortment of sweets by Caroline Khoo of Nectar & Stone will be available from a dessert bar located on level one of the Pavilion. Passers by in the birdcage enclosure will also be offered a tasting of one of Nectar & Stone’s indulgent treats.Nectar and Stone
Lexus Ambassador, Ben Shewry, has curated a selection of master providores – the industry heroes who grow, cultivate and farm beautiful sustainable produce – who will collaborate on a three course dining experience in the Lexus dining room.Ben on Facebook
The providores – from Baker Bleu, Gary’s Quality Meats, Australia’s Oyster Coast, and Kinkawooka – present a menu of three defined themes, executed by Zac Nicholson, head chef of Rockpool Melbourne. The menu is concluded with Rockpool’s signature: a strawberry mascarpone cake.More on Zac

INSPIRED BY THE LS
The flagship vehicle that introduced a brand and challenged an industry reignites to do it once again. Unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2017, the new sedan exemplifies Lexus’ Takumi craftsmanship.
