LEXUS LX SAFETY

LEXUS LX SAFETY

REASSURANCE

The LX range boasts impressive safety features through Lexus Safety System +, giving you greater peace of mind on and off-road. It's equipped with technologies and advanced features to make every journey safer.

LX 570 model shown in Titanium

A FOUR CAMERA SYSTEM FOR ENHANCED SAFETY

A FOUR CAMERA SYSTEM FOR ENHANCED SAFETY

With front, rear and side cameras⁸ as standard, the LX provides greater visibility around the vehicle, making it easier for you to check blind spots, park and confirm your surroundings.

The expansive 12.3” Multimedia screen in the centre console provides colour images while moving reference lines help you confirm your path and avoid obstacles when reversing, which is also aided by eight parking sonars⁸.

The LX also integrates a Panoramic mode⁸, whereby the four cameras are integrated into one projection, greatly aiding your awareness of your surroundings.

RIGID BODY STRUCTURE AND IMPACT-DISPERSING FRAME

RIGID BODY STRUCTURE AND IMPACT-DISPERSING FRAME

The LX is built on a high strength and high rigidity steel ladder-frame chassis.

The frame structure has been designed to maximise strength and transfer collision energy more linearly.

In addition, high-strength sheet steel is used in the reinforcements under the floor.

TRAILER SWAY CONTROL

TRAILER SWAY CONTROL

Given the frequency of towing that occurs with the LX, an additional stability system, known as Trailer Sway Control (TSC)¹⁵, has been fitted.

TSC helps suppress the trailer sway phenomenon that can occur during high wind, bumpy roads and emergency steering, reducing the chances of any loss of control when towing.

INFORMATION PROJECTION

INFORMATION PROJECTION

The Head Up Display (HUD) projects vital information onto the bottom of the windshield glass including vehicle speed, parking sonar, navigation directions and various warnings.

By reducing the need for you to look away from the road, safety is significantly increased.

RADAR ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL KEEPS YOUR DISTANCE

RADAR ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL KEEPS YOUR DISTANCE

In addition to conventional cruise control, the LX features a vehicle-to-vehicle distance technology known as Radar Active Cruise Control (ACC)2

Pre-set your preferred cruising speed and this speed will be maintained until the radar detects another vehicle in your path, at which point ACC can reduce speed accordingly (all the way to a standstill if necessary) to match the preceding vehicle.
Your nominated speed is then resumed once a safe following distance can be maintained.

MULTI TERRAIN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM

MULTI TERRAIN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM

The Multi Terrain Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA)8, can sense driving conditions on challenging surfaces like sand, mud and loose gravel, and will implement the optimum ABS control to both reduce speed and maintain steering control.

The EBD system adjusts braking effort applied to each wheel to compensate for changes in vehicle load and posture while BA can maximise brake-force during urgent braking.
When cornering in wet or slippery conditions, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) adjusts the brakes, engine output and steering system to help avoid loss of control and maintain your chosen line around the corner.

PRE-COLLISION SAFETY SYSTEM

PRE-COLLISION SAFETY SYSTEM

Lexus' Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)20 is fitted as standard and aims to reduce injury and damage by using pre-emptive and harm-minimisation strategies where a potential collision with a vehicle or pedestrian is detected via the forward radar.
These strategies include advanced warnings, braking support and even autonomous braking if an unavoidable impact is predicted.

At the same time, Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) will sense urgent braking and firm the front shock absorbers to reduce any diving motion of the vehicle.

DON'T DEPART FROM SAFETY

DON'T DEPART FROM SAFETY

Arguably one of the most important safety features available on Lexus vehicles is Lane Departure Warning (LDW)8

Using a camera to monitor available road markings, LDW can detect a potential unintentional lane departure and warn you, protecting you from perhaps drifting into oncoming traffic.

YOU'RE NOT BLIND TO DANGER

YOU'RE NOT BLIND TO DANGER

Other smart precautionary technologies include a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)8 with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)8 which use quasi-millimetre wave radar to warn you of potential impending danger.

BSM detects vehicles in your blind spot in an adjacent lane, while RCTA comes into play when you reverse out of a parking spot, detecting vehicles approaching from the side that may not be visible due to other vehicles parked next to you.

SUPERIOR VISIBILITY AT NIGHT

SUPERIOR VISIBILITY AT NIGHT

The striking form and outstanding performance of the LX is enhanced with triple-stack LED headlights ensuring excellent light distribution.

In addition, the Adaptive High-beam System (AHS)9 has the advanced ability to not only turn the high beams on and off automatically, but also shield a portion of the high-beam light that may be pointed at a preceding or oncoming vehicle while maintaining the rest of the high-beam light spread. This cutting edge technology allows more frequent driving with high-beams on.

LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) make the LX highly visible, while cornering lights illuminate when turning, helping you ‘see around corners’ and spot potential obstacles earlier, like animals on the side of the road.
