LEXUS NX SAFETY

NX 300h AWD Sports Luxury model shown in Titanium

LEXUS NX SAFETY

Lexus Safety System +

Innovative technology abounds in the Lexus NX including, importantly, in the safety systems found throughout the vehicle which help alert you to danger and alleviate risk if the unexpected happens.

AUTONOMOUS TECHNOLOGY THAT THINKS AHEAD

AUTONOMOUS TECHNOLOGY THAT THINKS AHEAD

Now standard on all NX models, a technologically advanced Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)19 uses a radar sensor and camera to detect vehicles and pedestrians in front of the vehicle, and warns you of potentially dangerous situations so you can take preventative action.

If you brake after the warning, the system can assist to maintain ideal braking. If you do not react and the situation becomes potentially unavoidable, PCS can automatically activate the brakes, helping to reduce impact force.

PCS is also teamed up with All-speed Radar Active Cruise Control (ACC)2 which judges the distance to the preceding vehicle and matches its speed when cruise control is engaged. The advanced system can even bring the vehicle to a complete halt without the driver having to touch the brake pedal.

The safety story doesn’t end there with the inclusion of Lane Departure Warning + (LDW+)8. LDW+ monitors the vehicles’ movement within its lane and provides warnings plus can influence the steering to alert the driver if an unintended lane departure is detected.

MONITORING HARD-TO-SEE AREAS

MONITORING HARD-TO-SEE AREAS

For those times when surrounding vehicles can't be seen from within the NX, a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)8 with Rear Crossing Traffic Alert (RCTA)8 is a welcome standard inclusion.

Using a sophisticated radar, BSM alerts the driver to unseen vehicles in blind spots by illuminating an indicator in the appropriate exterior mirror.

Meanwhile, RCTA detects vehicles approaching the difficult-to-see area behind the vehicle when reversing out of a parking spot. When an approaching vehicle is detected it alerts the driver using a buzzer and the BSM indicators in the outer mirrors.

SAFETY FIRST WITH 8 SRS AIRBAGS

SAFETY FIRST WITH 8 SRS AIRBAGS

The NX features eight strategically placed Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags as standard, which are intelligently armed to deploy in the event of a collision, offering a high level of assurance.

Other key safety features also come standard including Clearance and Parking Sonar8 and Rain Sensing Wipers that can activate automatically in inclement weather.

IMPACT ABSORBING BODY STRUCTURE

IMPACT ABSORBING BODY STRUCTURE

Lexus engineers have created a vehicle that offers a high level of protection for both the occupants of the NX and pedestrians alike.

The body structure effectively disperses collision energy through the frame and helps to suppress distortion of the cabin, and also absorbs energy to help diminish the impact in the unlikely event that the vehicle comes into contact with a pedestrian.

THE CONFIDENCE OF HILL-START ASSIST CONTROL

THE CONFIDENCE OF HILL-START ASSIST CONTROL

When you're stopped on a hill, the Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)9 feature briefly applies the brakes to prevent you from rolling back when taking off, giving you a feeling of confidence and control.

EYES IN THE BACK OF THE NX

EYES IN THE BACK OF THE NX

The standard inclusion in the NX of a Reversing Camera3 provides visibility when reversing, with a next generation camera offering more natural images.

Guidelines3 that move with the steering wheel to predict your path further assist when parking, including narrow mode which enables guidance in tighter parking spaces.

ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM

ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM

Building on the Automatic High Beam (AHB)9 system in the Luxury grade, the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades offer the more advanced Adaptive High-beam System (AHS)9

This system can intelligently deactivate individual LED headlight sections to block high beam light in the direction of an oncoming vehicle, whilst retaining the rest of the high beam light to maintain improved vision further down the road and to the sides.

A PANORAMIC VIEW

A PANORAMIC VIEW

In F Sport and Sports Luxury models, a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)8 displays birds-eye images from cameras mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle, which assists you in checking the full area around the vehicle during parking and reversing.
