LEXUS RX SAFETY

LEXUS RX SAFETY

Cutting edge technology is at the core of the Next Generation RX and nowhere is this more important than in the advanced safety systems, which activate to not only protect you in the event of the unexpected, but help prevent the unexpected from occurring to begin with.

BLIND SPOT MONITOR

BLIND SPOT MONITOR

It's not always possible to see other vehicles around you on the road but the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)⁸ with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)⁸, which is standard in the RX, offers an 'extra pair of eyes' to warn you when a vehicle is in your blind spot.

Using a sophisticated wave radar, BSM helps alert you to unseen vehicles in blind spots by illuminating an indicator on the appropriate exterior mirror.

Meanwhile, RCTA helps to detect vehicles crossing the difficult-to-see area behind the vehicle when reversing, sounding a buzzer and flashing the BSM indicators on the outer mirrors.

PRE-COLLISION SAFETY

PRE-COLLISION SAFETY

Utilising both a radar and a camera, the Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)¹⁹ found on all RX models and grades takes action whenever it perceives a possible impending collision.

Firstly you'll hear a buzzer and see a warning in the Multi-Information Display (MID) followed by the arming of the Pre-Collision Brake Assist to supplement your braking effort.

Finally, if a collision is deemed unavoidable and you have not responded, Pre-Collision Braking helps to reduce impact speed.

LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM +

LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM +

Lexus Safety System +includes a range of cutting edge standard safety features to ensure appropriate reactions and warnings to whatever circumstances you might find yourself in.

For example, a high beam system that reacts automatically to the surrounding light and traffic to switch off high-beams; an active cruise control system that helps judge the speed and distance of other vehicles and adjusts your speed accordingly; Lane Keep Assist (LKA)8 that can you if you start to drift out of your lane; and a pre-collision system that can warn you of a potential collision.

AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM

AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM

To ensure optimum vision at all times, each RX is fitted with an Automatic High Beam (AHB)9 device which intelligently detects both oncoming and preceding light from other vehicles, to automatically shut off the high beams as needed and then ensure they reactivate as soon as the path ahead is clear.

ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Linking to the Pre-Collision Safety System (PCS)19, Active Cruise Control (ACC)2 monitors the position of preceding vehicles and matches your speed to maintain a safe distance when Cruise Control is activated.

It can even control your speed all the way to a standstill if necessary, perfect for stop start traffic.

WELCOME ASSISTANCE WHEN REVERSING

WELCOME ASSISTANCE WHEN REVERSING

A Reversing Camera3, standard in the RX, offers visibility when reversing, with a next generation camera offering more natural images. Guidelines further assist when parking, predicting the vehicle path as you turn the steering wheel.

Front and rear Clearance and Reversing Sonar8 plus Rear Cross Traffic Alert8 also complement your eyesight by giving audible warnings of potential obstacles.

10 STRATEGICALLY PLACED AIRBAGS

When it comes to airbags the more of them the better, so your RX offers 10 SRS airbags for coverage of driver and passengers alike. The front passenger airbag even incorporates twin chambers that provide greater safety than conventional airbags.

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

In line with Lexus' philosophy for driver safety, each of our vehicles is of course fitted with key safety features, including the latest electronic safety inclusions like Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)9, Self-dimming Mirrors, an Anti-Theft System with Intrusions Sensors, Emergency Flashing Brake Lights, Rear Seatbelt Monitor and a Tyre Pressure Warning System.

LANE KEEP ASSIST

LANE KEEP ASSIST

Unintentionally veering out of your lane is one of the most dangerous yet common driving situations, so it's comforting to know all RX models and grades feature Lexus' most advanced lane departure system - Lane Keep Assist (LKA)8

LKA is a multi-faceted system, guarding and assisting you in three ways. Should you unintentionally veer out of your lane the first stage is a warning tone to alert you, followed by gentle steering assistance to help correct your position.

Then, while Active Cruise Control is activated, steering assistance can be further enhanced to help maintain a central position in your lane.

ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM

ADAPTIVE HIGH BEAM SYSTEM

Building on the Automatic High Beam (AHB)9 system in the Luxury grade, the F Sport and Sports Luxury grades offer the more advanced Adaptive High-beam System (AHS)9

This system can intelligently deactivate individual LED headlight sections to block high beam light in the direction of an oncoming vehicle, while retaining the rest of the high beam light to maintain vision down the roads and to the sides.

A BIRDS EYE VIEW

In the RX F Sport and Sports Luxury grades, a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)8 displays images from cameras mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle onto a larger 12.3" Multimedia screen, which assists you in checking the area around the vehicle for obstacles.
